Handmade leather belts: how to choose the perfect size

Choosing the Perfect Sized Belt for All Your Needs

High-quality belts, and especially handmade leather belts have become a popular fashion item over the past years. However, they can be quite expensive for what they are. If you aren’t especially wealthy or if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on your wardrobe, then you probably can’t afford to buy expensive belts which don’t fit well. With that in mind, what should you do to ensure that you choose the perfect sized belt next time you are out shopping with your friends?

Determining Your Rough Belt Size

One of the easiest ways to get an idea of your ideal belt size is to look inside the back of a few of your favourite pairs of pants and note down the waist size. Although this isn’t a foolproof method, it will at least give you a starting point when you visit the belt shop. Since the length of a belt is measured from the centre hole, it never hurts to add an inch to your pants size when choosing your belt size. This way you will have plenty of room no matter what style of pants or dress you choose.

Things to Keep in Mind When Choosing the size of handmade leather belts

Keep in mind that a number of factors will determine whether or not your belt is a good fit, and remains a good fit over time. For example, if you decide to buy handmade leather belts then they may stretch with use and become larger over time. Also keep in mind what style of belt you would like. If you want a belt for your jeans, which will likely hang relatively low over your hips, then it will need to be a little larger than if you are planning on wearing it tighter around your stomach over a dress. Be careful, choose wisely, and you shouldn’t have too many problems with your belt.
